hey, the good people at cox rayner have given me some images of the recently opened ‘bcec on grey street’, the $140 million extension to the brisbane convention & entertainment centre. having checked it out in person the only thing that seems to have changed, since max and i designed the interiors, is the flooring (pink carpet!!!) everything else is just as we imagined it together, sitting on the floor, with materials everywhere and an enthusiasm that comes from being given a challenge.
our team achieved great things! the services are consolidated and recessed in between ceiling panels. that took a lot of organisation of services engineers (a bit like herding cats). i particularly like our thin metal hoods which announce the entrance to meeting areas and the integrated signage also works a treat. it is a vast place and i hope it adds to the cultural life of brisbane in some way. enjoy the images and the destination which opens onto brisbane’s popular south bank.
